Sesame-Burger with Beanpatty

My life is a compromise, with the least financial input. I am a young artist. And actually, I think, i have it good. Perhaps this is down to the fact that i am just fullfilling myself. Yes, even that you are accused of. Because I have a profession that offers me freedom and play. On the other hand, this includes being free from a fixed salary, a regular pension scheme or other securities – most of the time, but not only securities of financial nature.

Last year I wrote about 15 applications for one performance project, which sometimes are so highly specific that preparations for them take days or in the worst case a whole week of work – unpaid of course. Oh, by the way they were all rejections – all, but the last one – which once more pushed my self-esteem as well as my purse a little bit. Being an artist is not always funny.

Recently i applied for a sum of money that a friend employed by a big consulting company could only laugh about: „You really have to fear for this amount?“ Yes, why actually? I do it for passion, but also because it is my job – easy like that. A compromise precisely, with the least financial input. This burger is exactly that: Fast Food, but somehow healthy. Ingredients which are extremely cheap plus some a little more costly pep which doesn`t get out of line.

for 1 person

1 sesame roll
1 kohlrabi
Fresh spinach leaves
1 slice of hard goat cheese
1 tin of red kidney beans
1 teaspoon of savory (if not available: oregano)
1 pressed garlic clove
A pinch of cumin
1 red pepper
3 tablespoons of capers
1 small red onion
Salt, Pepper
Olive Oil

1. Thinly slice the kohlrabi. Wash the spinach leaves. Slice and prepare the roll for filling.
2. Finely chop the red pepper, the onion and the capers. Mix and season with salt and pepper for the relish.
3. Mash the kidney beans with a fork and mix with pressed garlic, a pinch of cumin, salt, pepper and savory (or oregano). Form a patty and slowly fry in olive oil.
4. Build the burger of compromise. Don`t forget to add a slice of hard goat cheese on top of the hot patty.
